The first steps in your change may seem tiny, insignificant or the equivalent of 1% of where you want to be. They seem so unimportant that we use it as a way to stay still and stagnant. But we know there is a cost to staying stuck and comfortable. No GROWTH.
The 1% is the most important part of your journey but it's also the hardest part as it takes the most effort. Getting past that zero point to create motion and action will challenge your mind so much as it persuades you to put it on your virtual shelf for some day in the future that never comes... 'One day when you have the time or effort.'
We think that doing 10 mins of movement, mindset or mindfulness work daily for our wellness isn't much so we do nothing. Those hours build up over a year!
A baby doesn't decide that those first baby steps are a waste of time and decide to give up on learning to walk. We somehow lose that trust in ourselves from the reality we create of our world. A reality created by our thoughts and beliefs.
A mind that is in chaos will stay in chaos.
A body that is tired and consumed with stress will stay tired and stressed.
A bad habit will stay a bad habit.
Nothing changes if nothing changes.
If you can put fear of failure aside, dip your toes in the water or plant that seedling then you've done the hard part. The rest is just repeat repeat repeat with some nourishment along the way as you watch the momentum grow.
You have created trust, trust within you, trust that you are important and trust that you can and will follow through.
We can resist doing the mindset work but it's the mind that blocks us the most as it hates you changing. Be the observer of those thoughts but don't interact with them.
It all starts with just that one step, don't be put off by the rest of the 99%.
Take those steps 1% at a time.
