Many of us want to increase our fitness levels. You may have the motivation but do not know how to keep pushing your body to get results or you may need new inspiration to shock the body and get those results you having been working for, not realising your body has plateaued out.

We all have different needs and goals. You may look to a friend who is extremely fit for advice. What may be a great workout for your friend, may not be a great workout for you. A personal trainer will tailor your workouts for you, taking into consideration any injuries and your previous workout experience. A great personal trainer will also look into your bad habits and devise ways to change these.

You may be doing the right exercise, however not using the proper technique during your workout. This can cause long term injuries and prevent your desired goals. Make the most out of your workouts. You don't want to spend hours and hours training, especially in our busy lifestyles. Hours can be lost doing the wrong exercises. A personal trainer will make your workouts time efficient and effective. They will find the most effective way to challenge your body according to your likes, dislikes and goals. I give many of my clients homework outside our training sessions, making them quick and intense.

Accountability and Motivation

Having a personal trainer will make you aware of the bad habits you may have developed over the years or over your lifetime. A personal trainer will firstly help you identify these but also find the best ways to change them for good. You have to repeat a good behaviour at least 50-60 before they become a new positive habit. If you are accountable to a trainer, you will be less likely to repeat the bad habit. When clients write down their food over the week for me, it soon makes them less likely to reach for the chocolate or if they have promised to go for that extra run. When you have an appointment with your personal trainer, you are less likely to cancel like you would with a fitness class with your friends. A trainer can also help you with your motivation every step of the way and make you passionate and excited about your exercise as you begin to see the results. It is the most rewarding part of being a personal trainer.

Track Progress

Throughout your training, your personal trainer will track your progress and hence keep you motivated as you see the changes. Jumping on the scales each week will not track your progress where as a trainer can track your body composition such as your percentage body fat or muscle mass. The personal trainer can identify plateaus in your body adapting your workout accordingly.
