Fitness equipment, gym memberships and personal trainers even though proven extremely effective can all be a little costly at times and if you need to tighten the purse strings a little, so Magic Fitness have come up with some cheap and cheerful ways you can get that heart rate up, burn more calories and build muscle and fitness for free! And for those of you who are our clients, you can do it too - it will just maximise your results even further, faster! YouTube
The internet and Social Media has become an amazing resource for fitness wannabes but YouTube is fast becoming a popular way to learn new fitness regimes without having to spend a penny. From Personal Trainers to celebrities, there are lots of channels to choose from for the results you want to achieve. Watch TV Yes this one got your attention didn't it! I like to tell my clients to try to add as many broad range of movements they can in everyday life, so when you're watching the tube, try doing the following as a super quick workout that can burn calories and build muscle whilst your watching TV. Try doing 20 reps of each of the following exercise 3 x times - you'll be surprised how quickly you can work up a sweat! 20 jumping jacks 20 squats 20 high knees 20 press ups 20 lunges 20 mountain climbers Race Your Dog Instead of taking your dog for a leisurely stroll, see if you can race him along the beach!! Add in intervals, so walk for 5 minutes, jog for 3 then sprint as fast as you can for 1 minute and repeat. Your dog will love it and its a great way to motivate you to run faster! The Green Gym Got a park nearby? Jog to the park as your warm up and then look around for all the equipment you need to get fit! Use climbing frames as pull up bars for your chest, back and triceps, benches for tricep dips and step ups etc and create your own circuits! Obviously it might be an idea to do this when other people's kids are in school rather than trying to jump over them and skirt around them whilst they're playing - however if you have young kids yourself maybe you could kill two birds with one stone...? Make it a Friend Thing If you have a friend who also wants to drop a few pounds or get fitter, why not commit to meet up with each other every evening after work (or at least three times a week) and go do some of exercise together - just making the commitment to another person like you would organise lunch or meeting for a coffee can sometimes be all the motivation to need to establish a positive habit of working out. So for example, on a Monday you meet up to go swimming and set a goal for the number of lengths you both must achieve (this avoids you bobbing around in the water talking all night!), Tuesday could be a game of tennis, Wednesday a 5km jog/run, Thursday a bike-ride and maybe Friday a dance class together! It's surprising how quickly this becomes a part of your life that you really miss when for some reason you can't go! This is what you want to achieve to get fit - for exercise to be a part of your life that you love, not something on your 'to do' list! That's the key to a fit and healthy life and a great body.
