How is your failure tolerance?
Are you frozen to take action because you're in fear that you'll fail?
Stuck in the decision making stage because it's safe there and you still feel like you're being productive?
To move forward and make changes we need to take action despite the mind trying to stop us.
A failure is a starting point, a time for learning and growth. It's not the time to quit but to pivot and try again in a different way. If this hasn't worked for you, then you've not tried enough different ways until you find the right way.
We are conditioned at school age that an F is a failure, an end point, a point to quit. When it's really a starting point and a way to highlight there is more learning and growth to do.
The one thing that works and creates the big change we want comes after all the things that haven't worked.
The one way to find your way to the result you want is to take ACTION.... As I always say it's the journey on the way to the results that's the juicy part.
We know what we want, wouldn't it be easier if we could shortcut the process to get there?
Couldn't we just cut out the frustration, fear, fails and the uncertainty?
It would be great if we could all line up for everything we want and it's just handed to us.
It would be easier but would it mean anything? Would the result be worthwhile and rewarding? Would we have learnt anything about ourselves and the journey we are in. Let it be hard. The harder it is, the stronger we can become.
Failure tolerance is your super power. Can you imagine all the things that you'd dip your toes into and try if that tolerance to failure was higher? Have there been many doors closed in case you'd fail.
Failure is only an emotion and it can't hurt us unless we resist it. Let the failure fire up your determination and motivation instead of leaving you in a heap or running in the opposite direction.
We can attach to the fear of failure because if we fail, we think it says something about us and who we are. Our self worth gets wrapped up in the result of our actions.
When starting on a change and focusing on that end result, try visualising that end result as neutral. We're OK either way. When we grasp onto an end result so tight, we can lose focus on enjoying the journey, the little wins seem meaningless as you focus on just getting there as quickly as possible. Creativity and efficiency are flattened.
So how about a mindset shift. Think about all the things that you could fail at and have fun with it. Why not give them a go, especially if they scare you. Your block is just an emotion. Feel it and move through it.
Don't sit back, play it safe and compare yourself to others with that little inner voice wishing you could be more like them.
You can. You are you're only block.
If you're in need of that helping hand and to have someone in your corner encouraging you to take action, i'd love to help you master those same blocks keeping you frozen in your habits.
